Wellbeing: Social and Individual Determinants.

Seminar series funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

A major review of research into subjective wellbeing emphasises the need to understand the complex interplay between social, personal and environmental factors; and the need to develop new theories and methods of research. This subject, though receiving a great deal of contemporary interest, is by its nature transdisciplinary, with all the social sciences playing their part in determining the processes and circumstances that generate wellbeing in individuals, groups, communities and societies.

The core individuals, and contributing institutions, are: Dr John Haworth, Department of Psychology and Speech Pathology, Manchester Metropolitan University; Professor Graham Hart, MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow; Professor Sarah Curtis, Department of Geography, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
